June 14, Travel Day 105, Chateau Montebello

We traveled 4 hours and 6 minutes from Carillon Lock to Chateau Montebello.   We all needed a little rest and pampering time and this was the perfect place to do it!  In fact after we arrived Katya, Laura and I decided to extend our stay to two nights!!

The lodge was built in the 1930’s.  It is the largest log structure in the world.  The logs were all imported from Oregon and came ready to install.  It took 3000 men 4 months to install the logs.  It reminded me of the great lodges in Glacier and Yellowstone.

We enjoyed the hot tubs, pool, sauna and wonderful grounds.  We all ate lunch in town one afternoon at Le Bistro.  The harbormaster gave Laura a ride since she had twisted her knee, the rest of us got trenched on the way back to the boats by a pop up storm!

We had dinner at the lodge one night and grilled dinner the next night.  This was a great 2 day stay!
