April 28-May 3

May Day in Annapolis!  We went on a private electric golf cart tour of Annapolis!  This town has so much history.  We saw the home where the founding fathers spent time together socially discussing the Articles of Confederation and amendments.  Imagine, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison inside having a pint and discussing democracy!  Annapolis was the first Capitol of the USA and George Washington was a familiar face hanging around the town.  He was an avid horse racing fan and was reported to watch the races from the dome of the capitol building!  I loved Annapolis!  Lots of pubs, shops, restaurants and history!

Above: Harriet Tubman statue.  The Underground Railroad was very active in the Chesapeake Bay Area.  Harriet Tubman lived in near by Oxford, Maryland.  Some homes in Annapolis were found to have secret tunnels to help slaves get through the city and to the harbor to catch a boat to freedom!

Just in time!  I was feeling a little homesick and was blessed with a visit from Stan and Vickie Winkler!  We had a great time visiting and sharing the Chesapeake Bay with them!  Mike made his famous “Gumbo” and Key Lime Pie!
