April 8, 2023 Colonial Williamsburg

We visited Colonial Williamsburg on Saturday.  This was truly a step back into time.  The town has been restored completely and the visitor experiences Americas beginnings.  Costumed interpreter guides take you through many of the historic buildings and in the shops you will find tradespeople demonstrating their craft.  The actors really did a great job of transporting you back in time and they talked about the issues of their they were dealing with.  They debated the issues of democracy and the meaning of “We the People”.

The Bruton Parish Church pews were inscribed with the names of the prominent men who sat in them, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry.

Only one woman had an inscription Martha Custis, she would later become Martha Washington.

We spent a full day and did not get too see everything.  It was fascinating.
