August 22, Travel Day 145 and 146 Frankford and Manistee

We traveled 32.8 NM or 4 hours and 26 minutes to Frankford, Michigan, Harbor Lights Marina and Resort.  This was a nice marina with some fun amenities such as free morning donuts, pool and hot tub!  Our friends Ann and Tim Marty met us here for a visit.  We did some hiking, biking, dining, beach walking, grilling and chilling.  It was great to see them both.

Ann was able to travel with us when we left Frankfort to Manistee.  She had a great time helping Captain Mike at the helm.  We had some luxury time to catch up with each other. There is nothing that can replace old soul connections!

We hiked the Arcadia Dunes Nature Preserve.  Below is “Old Baldy”, the dune has a 340 foot elevation above the lake.  Ann had fun eating the wild berries and googling the vegetation!

We grilled for dinner.  Ann and I went to the local farmers market and were able to get all local foods.  We had EMU burgers, corn on the cob, salad and baked potato.  It was fun cooking and visiting on the fly bridge.  We added cherry wine spritzers.  Michigan has cherry everything!

Arriving in Manistee behind our buddy boat “Darlin Lee”.

Manistee is a nice harbor town on the Manistee River.  It is the home of “Morton Salt” production.  We did some biking, shopping, visited with Tracy and George on “Done Saving” and Mike baked a pie with the left over peaches from our farmers market visit!  The town had a boardwalk along the river that went for several miles.  It was fun walking along the river and beaches.
