Great Loop Journey

Absolutely loved our visit!  Can’t wait to see them again!

We traveled 49.4 NM from Southaven Municipal Marina to Washington Park Municipal Marina in Michigan City.  We had planned to spend several nights in South Haven and then move to St. Joseph, Michigan for a few days, but the predicted winds and waves on Lake Michigan were going to be fierce after September 6.  We

We traveled 20.5 NM or 3 hours and 4 minutes to reach Anchorage Marina, Holland Michigan for Labor Day Weekend.  Scott and Ann came to visit!! It was a great visit!  We explored Holland and Saugatuck shops and galleries.  We had breakfast at the “Windmill” and dinner at the Boat Works.  It was a lot

We traveled 45.1 NM or 6 hours and 1 minute to reach Grand Haven Municipal Marina. We had a smooth day of cruising on the big lake.  Docking in Grand Haven was a bit challenging due to the current in the river, it took us 2 attempts!  The waves on Lake Michigan were 3-7 foot

We traveled 4 hours and 26 minutes or 32.1 NM from Manistee to Pentwater Marina.  We had reservations for 2 nights at the marina, but due to predicted high seas coming, we elected to stay one night instead.  We met up with some fellow loopers for pizza, toured the town and enjoyed a sailboat race.

We traveled 32.8 NM or 4 hours and 26 minutes to Frankford, Michigan, Harbor Lights Marina and Resort.  This was a nice marina with some fun amenities such as free morning donuts, pool and hot tub!  Our friends Ann and Tim Marty met us here for a visit.  We did some hiking, biking, dining, beach

We traveled 24.5 NM, 3 hours and 35 minutes to Leland Township Marina.  Leland is an old fishing town.  The fishing shanties are now tourist shops, candy stores etc, but one fish market remains complete with smoked fish.  The smoked trout and salmon were very good.  We met up with fellow loopers Tricia and Mike
