March 2-6, Amelia Island

We traveled about 4 hours on the ICW to get to Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island.  Our friends Lynn and Leon from Ste. Genevieve were vacationing south and joined us for a few days!

Above left: Leon, Lynn, Chris, Laura(from Miracle), Jody and Mike.  We had a great dinner at “Wicked Bao”.  Mike had pork bellies and Lynn actually tried the broiled octopus!

It is a small world, Kathleen and Bryan’s best friend is from Ste. Genevieve and of course we knew him and his siblings!

Amelia Island hosts a huge car show annually called “The Amelia”.  The Amelia brings hundreds of classic, rare and historically significant automobiles to Amelia Island.  The venue is a high dollar admission but a favorite part of The Amelia is the Eight Flags Road Tour.  55 of the cars tour the island and the tour ends in downtown Fernandina Beach where the general public can view the rare beauties!  Mike and Leon really enjoyed seeing the antique and classic cars!.  They also had a great trip to the airport and got to see the private jets that brought in some of the attendees!

While the boys played, Lynn and I had time for retail therapy and lunch!

We wanted Lynn and Leon to experience the history and beauty of St. Augustine so we drove down for a day!  It was so much fun!

Always hard to say good bye to great friends!
