October 10-18

Who knew we would be too busy to blog!!  The conference was great, met tons of people, learned a lot about the logistics and daily grind of doing this journey, toured beautiful boats and even showed No Agenda on the loopers crawl.  Paris Landing State Park Lodge is absolutely beautiful!  I would recommend it to anyone who likes nice things!!

Pictures of Paris Landing State Park Lodge.  We had several meet and greet happy hours by the fire pits in the evenings..fun!

We had a visit from Curtis Stokes of Curtis Stokes Yacht Sales!!  His company sponsored parts of the event.

The four day event was truly a worth while experience.  We met lots of people and heard lots of stories.  The format included an introduction time for the individuals starting the adventure to tell a little about themselves. On another night the individuals planning the loop introduced themselves. A recurring theme was “do it while your able”.  I think we are all on the journey!  We met Scott who is a marine surveyor and was familiar with our boat.  He offered for us to stay at his private dock when we are passing by Orange Beach, Alabama.  We met Margie and Bill and had lots of commonality with them! Great people and so much fun.  They also offered us dockage at their home when we pass through West Florida.  The prevailing energy and attitude was one of joy for others and sincerely wanting others to succeed.

Did I mention there are some really fashionable people here!!

This is Susan, she and her friend Theresa are doing the loop on their beautiful 34 foot Mainship, Masquerade.  We are doing a side trip to Chattanooga with them as our  “Buddy boat”.

Eiffel Tower replica, 1/20 original size donated to the sister city of Paris, TN by Paris, France, and “Sweet Jordan’s”, restaurant which is a wonderful deli/bakery employing 28 mentally challenged individuals.

Visitors form Ste Genevieve!!!  They must of known we were running low on Oberle Dog!!

We stayed at Clifton Marina the 15th and 16th.  The marina has a great floating restaurant and bar.  The whole town was there for the Tennessee vs Alabama college football game.  It was pretty tense until the overtime field goal clenched it for Tennessee.  After 26 losses to Alabama they were ready to celebrate!  “Good old Rocky Top, Rocky top Tennessee” played over and over again!  It was fun.  They had Karaoke after the game and of course we were delighted to hear Lynn’s version of Crazy!  She was almost as big a hit as Rocky Top.  You know you are in the south when you pass establishments named “The Cross Eyed Cricket”!

We are now on the Tennessee river in Pickwick lake, headed to Chattanooga!
