MaryLou was kind enough to return us to Hammond Marina! When we left for Walla Walla there were 3-4 loop boats here. Now there are over 70 loopers at the marina in Hammond, Indiana. We are all waiting for the locks to re-open. Three locks, Brandon, Dresden and Marseilles locks closed June 1, 2023 for maintenance. The locks are scheduled to re-0pen October 1. AGLCA notified us that the Corp has asked all of the flotilla’s to move back five days. Instead of locking through and heading home on October 2, we are now scheduled to get through on October 7.
There are many pleasure boats, loopers and commercial barges backed up to get through the locks and we must proceed under the AGLCA and Corps direction.
Hammond Marina is next to the Horseshoe Casino and there is some shopping about one mile from the marina. The loopers are congregating in the evening and having docktails. We have reunited with several folks and met several new friends along the way.
We plan to go into Chicago on the train one day and we are planning to go to Chicago for a boat cruise tomorrow with our friends Linda and Simon from Indigo Seas.
